-Due to injury

Tendonitis may result due to a tendon or joint injury. One example might be how tennis elbow develops after having elbow surgery or wrist tendonitis develops after having surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. In these scenarios, tendonitis may have been avoided with proper rest and treatment following the surgery.

-Due to a preexisting condition
Another possible tendonitis cause, not so common, could be an immune disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis that may leave tendons prone to pain and inflammation.
